“I was raised to treat people exactly how I would like to be treated by others. It’s called respect.” — Keanu Reeves

The moment I was so stunned by this guy was when I saw him in The Matrix movie, it was really cool when he dodged all those bullets in slow motion.

Then a few years later he came back again being John Wick, all those exciting fights over a dog, I loved it so much, even when he reloaded all his weapons, he did it in style. There was no bargain, I was sold by his splendid performances.

Back in 2017, the internet made him so famous, not because of his new movies but because of his kindness. That’s where I admired him because of his personality.

This article made for the guy himself, who inspired me to do things in my life, and I believe the world needs more of Keanu Reeves and we can learn a lot of things from this guy.

Even with the greatest tragedy in your life, you still could be a great person

Despite its success, this talented actor who inspired millions of his viewers, this person who can dodge hundreds of bullet, he is just another human being who has faced a lot of unfortunate things in his life.

When he was still three years old, his father left the family, and his mother remarried a few times. He was also struggling with formal educations as he attended more than four high schools due to his problem with dyslexia.

At age 23, he lost his best friend River Phoenix due to drug overdoses.

In 1999, he lost his daughter who was still inborn, the grief took a huge toll on his life and his relationships with Jennifer Syme.

Although what he had been through, a rough childhood at the beginning and another struggle that’s happened as he entered adulthood, that still doesn’t make Reeves giving up on life.

For all the tragedies that happen in his life, it is more likely and understandable if the guy would turn to be bitter, but he didn’t.

Being one of the most successful actors in Hollywood, Keanu Reeves has been appeared in at least 82 movies, making him one of the most respected actors in the motion picture industry.

He has taught us that we can’t always avoid tragedies in our lives, it happens but still, that doesn’t give us the right to give up on life, it‘s not stopping us from being the greatest version of ourselves.

Even throughout the most unfortunate events in our lives — the most painful ones — life doesn’t stop for us just because of pithiness, in fact, life doesn’t stop for anyone, and it’s our responsibility to try our best to move on because the show must go on.

We are all struggling in our lives, and that’s normal

In 2010 the internet was flooded with memes from this picture of Keanu Reeves sitting on a bench, people described the picture as ‘Sad Keanu’.

While most of the celebrities tried to hide their flaws when it comes to public appearances, Keanu embraced it.

Most people often create a lining between vulnerability and being weak.

But it’s the vulnerability itself that makes us human and distinguishes us from a robot, that’s the most human thing that we can do, being vulnerable.

We all have our vulnerabilities, but when it comes to embracing them, most of us were afraid to do it. I was once afraid of my own flaws too because I thought that’s what makes me weak, it was something that I was embarrassed to people and mostly to myself.

A few years later, I was watching random things on Youtube, and somehow I have found myself watching this great speech about vulnerability.

It was an eye-opener for me.

Once we acknowledged our vulnerability, we accepted our flaws, and we accepted that our roles as a human being are never meant to be perfect, I’m sure that we will find peace within ourselves.

We will become a more forgiving person, we forgive other people and most importantly we forgive ourselves.

Nobody in this world immune to vulnerability, even one of the most talented actors like Reeves himself.

Being kind to others

“I don’t want to be a part of the world where being kind is a weakness.” — Keanu Reeves

Acknowledging how it feels to be broken, he knows exactly how the pain felt, and how the loneliness tastes, he had experienced that and he didn’t want people to feel the same thing.

The articles from the internet describing how kind he was just endless, but this was probably one of the most inspiring stories in my honest opinion.

Keep it simple

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” — Leonardo Da Vinci

For someone who worth roughly $360 million, he could do almost anything he wants in this world, but Reeves has taught us a valuable lesson that money doesn’t change the true nature of ourselves, it doesn’t change who we are.

He knows that being famous doesn’t make him superior to the others, he still one of us, another average person on the subway.

“Money doesn’t mean anything to me. I’ve made a lot of money, but I want to enjoy life and not stress myself building my bank account. I give lots away and live simply, mostly out of a suitcase in hotels. We all know that good health is more important.” — Keanu Reeves

While we often thought that happiness comes from the big things in this world, but it’s not always the case, the more expensive thing worth doesn’t always mean the better it is for your happiness.

The guy loved to keep everything as simple as they can be because the simpler everything is the less stress you produce.

The internet once again was shocked when there was a picture of him hangin’ out with a homeless guy,

Because in the end, life is not a competition of being rich or being more successful among the others, it’s all about enjoying it.

Closure

Keanu is just a part of an example of how society should act, although there was almost no guide book how we should act as a part of the community, but when we being kind to others and most importantly to ourselves, we know that we are doing the right thing.
